Line Conditioning

 

What is line conditioning?  

Literally it is the metering or conditioning of electrical current running through wiring that feeds electrical appliances, machinery or other electrical devices.

Why do I need Line Conditioning?   

Electrical power that is delivered to your meter, either residential or commercial, varies or fluctuates. Notice has been made of lights that dim or grow brighter, screens that flicker or refrigerators that seem to speed up and slow down.  This is a direct result of power fluctuation.

So current fluctuation is bad?  

Fluctuation of current to electrical devices can cause additional wear and tear to your appliances, machinery and electronic equipment.  This will cause your device to need repair or replacement sooner than with conditioned electricity.

Why does it affect my equipment?  

All electrical devices obtain wear and tear when they start up.  The best scenario for a motor is for it to rev up to speed and then remain at a constant speed.  When you hear your refrigerator compressor rev up and down, what is happening is the motor had to work harder to get to operational speed.  If it is continuously reving up and down, it is continuously adding wear and tear to your motor.  

Example:  Two brand new and identical automobiles are run regularly each day.  Each is maintained alike with maintenance at periodic intervals but one is run inside of the city and the other is run on the highway.  At 100,000 miles, they are compared.  The automobile that has been used on the highway shows much less wear and tear that the city car.  The reason is that the highway car is brought up to speed and run at consistent speeds while the city car is constantly being stopped and started.  This starting and stopping wears the car out faster.  The same holds true for your electrical equipment.


So this only affects my motors?

No.  Varying current will cause wear on all electrical devices.  Lights use either a filament or gas to provide illumination.  The more a filament is heated and cooled, the more brittle it becomes and the sooner that it breaks. Gas inside of a bulb is the same way. The more that it is heated and cooled, the more of the gas that it burns and the sooner it needs to be replaced.  Screens for Computers and Televisions work the same way.  

How does The Green Box help?
