The Green Box captures unused electricity and redistributes it within the system. This is caused by inductive loads. The more electricity that you use and the more inductive loads that you have, the higher the savings.
In short, it is a device that uses a magnetic field to operate. Motors, compressors, ballasts and pumps all use magnetic fields and create inductive loads. This type of load throws off unused electricity.
Electricity is used in a circuit which means unused power has to pass out of the system or be absorbed by the system depending on the type of user; residential, commercial. The Green Box captures this cast off electricity in its capacitors and then redistributes them to be used by additional demand. A more detailed explanation of this process is given in the Residential and Commercial pages of this site.
In the home, it will include refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, washers, dryers, air conditioning compressors, forced air fans, pool motors, Jacuzzi pumps, sewing machines, dishwashers, garbage disposals, fans, power tools and some florescent ballasts. Commercial users include the same devices plus machinery that uses motors to operate. Lathes, presses, injections, air compressors, CNC, liquid & solid pumps, elevators, chillers, commercial laundry units or anything else that utilize electric motors to move or operate.
A typical installation will result in a minimum savings of 8%. However, most Green Box clients realize from 15% to 25% reduction in electrical use. Some of our users have reported over 30% savings, but that is not the norm. Your savings will depend on the amount of electricity that you use and how much of it consists of inductive loads. A minimum 8% savings will return the initial investment within 12 to 15 months. The remaining life of the Green box (20 years or more) will continually reduce your monthly electrical bill. With electric costs on the rise, The Green Box will pay for itself many times over its expected life.
